What VoiceOrb does with your voice
VoiceOrb uses your device's microphone and on-device speech recognition to turn what you say into text. That text (or whatever you type instead) is sent to a backend we operate, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to figure out whether you're setting a reminder, writing a note, logging an expense, logging income, or asking a question about your spending.
The first time you use VoiceOrb, it shows you a screen explaining exactly this — that what you say or type is sent to Anthropic's Claude — before anything is sent anywhere, and asks you to actively allow it. You can withdraw that permission at any time from Settings → Send to Claude (Anthropic); doing so immediately stops voice and text understanding from working (since that's how VoiceOrb makes sense of what you say), but everything already saved on your device stays exactly as it is.
We do not record or store the audio itself, and our backend does not keep a copy of your messages once it has answered — it's a stateless pass-through to Claude, not a database. Your message text is subject to Anthropic's own privacy practices while it's being processed; see Anthropic's Privacy Policy for how they handle it on their end.
What's stored, and where
Everything VoiceOrb actually keeps — your reminders, your saved notes, and your expense/income ledger — lives in local storage on your own device. None of it is uploaded to us or stored on any server we run. If you delete the app or clear its data, that information is gone; we don't have a copy to restore it from, because we never had one.
Permissions we ask for
- Microphone — to hear you when you tap to talk.
- Speech recognition — to turn your voice into text on your device.
- Notifications — to alert you when a reminder is due.
You can decline any of these; VoiceOrb will still work by typing instead of speaking, though reminders won't be able to notify you without notification permission.
What we don't do
- We don't require an account, login, or email address to use VoiceOrb.
- We don't run ads, and we don't use analytics or tracking SDKs that profile you.
- We don't sell or share your data with anyone, because we don't hold onto it in the first place.
Children's privacy
VoiceOrb is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of VoiceOrb after a change means you accept the update.
